Grace Talk from Your Bishop, October 2016

Posted by on Oct 6, 2016 in Updates

My dear brothers and sisters, here PAX!

I am looking forward to seeing as many of you as can come to Synod this year!

The theme of Synod is “Commitment” and we will be talking about what it is to be a Diocese and how we can leave our comfort zones to step out in faith and build the kingdom.

It’s not too late to sign up for Synod 2016, link just go to the website and register. We have a great agenda planned. We have Archbishop Foley Beach with us on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, we have bible studies in English, Karen, and Spanish, and we have people coming in to talk about Youth programs and Christian Education so that we can be prepared to do the work God is calling us to do in this diocese.

The Mayor of Peoria, the Hon. Jim Ardis will be presenting a proclamation welcoming the Archbishop. If you live in the Peoria area, please attend the City Council meeting on the 11th of October at 6:00 p.m. and represent us! The event will be broadcast on Peoria local cable television channel 22. The Mayor and his wife will also join us at Synod on Thursday night for mass and dinner with the Archbishop.

At Synod, we will welcome new missions and members of the Diocese and we will remember Bp. Parsons at a mass in his memory Friday at 5:00 pm. We will also be honoring members of the Diocese who have served us all on Friday night at the Banquet, where we will get to spend time together and listen to music.

The Synod Planning Team wanted me to remind you that if you’re available to volunteer, please email them at synod@dioceseofquincy.org.

I urge you all to be praying for Synod that we might renew the bonds of love and reaffirm our commitment to the ministry to which we have been called.

In Christ Jesus,
