Dear Brothers and Sisters,
October is a busy month for us in the Diocese, with a lot going on. We will gather in three weeks for Synod, which will be a time for us to hear the Word of God, to participate in the ordinations of Deacons Ah Sa Ree and Kay George to the priesthood and of Ta Kwah to the diaconate. These men of God are already working for the Kingdom, caring for their people, and spreading the Good News of the Gospel. The Archbishop of the ACNA, the Most Rev Dr. Foley Beach will be with us on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. for the ordinations and we hope that everyone in the area will join us to celebrate.
We will also be hearing from Cn. Dan Alger on church planting and from church planters in our own Diocese. There will Bible Study with Fr. Michael Strachan and presentations on a variety of things, including Active Shooter response, insurance, Church Camp, and Children’s Ministries.
We are also working very hard to gather supplies and money to bring relief to our family and fellow Americans in Puerto Rico. I am very thankful for the prayers for my family and the families of the monks at St. Benedict’s Abbey. We have heard from them and are they are telling us that the needs are overwhelming and dire.
During Synod this year, we will be taking two offerings, one for Anglican Charities, as we continue the work of meeting the needs of the poor here. The second will be for the Hurricane Relief efforts. We are already working on how to best get money and basic necessities to the people on the Island. We are asking for your prayers and, if you are able to give, for your donations.
On our website, you will find information on donating to the Hurricane Relief efforts.
If you haven’t registered for Synod yet, please go to the website and register. I look forward to seeing you all, my Diocesan family, there.
In Christ Jesus,
Bp. J. A. Morales, OSB, DD
