On Sunday, capsule June 28th, 2015 Grace Anglican Church celebrated a milestone. At the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, we celebrated our 5th Anniversary as a church plant. We also celebrated our first joint service. It really was a big and exciting day in the history of our church!
Five years ago in the living room of Father John Hellrung and his family, Grace Anglican Church was born. After very little deliberation, as we all seemed to see God working in the situation and felt no need to discuss further, we came to the decision to name the church Grace, and to have Saints Peter and Paul as our patron saints. It seemed to fit perfectly.
In those five years, we have always had an outdoor service (barring the one year we were rained out) in celebration of the church’s anniversary. This year seemed extra special, though. We had our first guest celebrant, Reverend Payton Wieland, who did an exceptional job celebrating the Eucharist. His congregation, Christ Church in O’Fallon, IL, came and joined with us in our time of worship. We had so many visitors coming to sing the Lord’s praises with us! It was truly a wonderful and beautiful service. And the food we all shared afterward was pretty excellent, as well!
We are constantly amazed by God’s grace and His plan for our little church. We look forward to continuing His work in Collinsville, and bringing forth His Kingdom here and in the whole world! “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit”.
