June 9-10 marked the second annual Clergy Wives Retreat for the Diocese of Quincy. Unlike the 2016 gathering, when many who attended met fellow clergy wives for the first time, this year’s event was a comfortable gathering of friends, as almost all the ladies have stayed connected both in person and through the group’s Facebook page, called “DOQ Clergy Wives.”
This year’s theme was “Exploring Our Identity in Christ.” Each speaker presented on a woman from the gospels. For example, Bp. Morales provided a wonderful talk on Mary Magdalene, Gayle Heatherington spoke on the Virgin Mary, and Paulette Sackett shared her perspective on Mary and Martha. Several other speakers also presented, each one sharing from their own heart, as well.
In addition to several Bible study sessions, the ladies also worshiped and sang together, completed a craft project, and enjoyed the fellowship of their sisters in Christ. Many thanks to Fr. Don Sackett and the good people of St. Marks Church Silvis for their warm hospitality and support of this diocesan event.
All clergy wives of the diocese encouraged to attend the DOQ Synod and join their sisters for a Clergy Wives Luncheon on Friday, Oct. 20. Also, mark your calendars for the 2018 Clergy Wives Retreat which will be hosted by St. John’s Anglican Church in beautiful Quincy, Ill. on June 8-9
