Grace Talk from your Bishop

My dear Brothers and Sisters of the Diocese: PAX!
It was with joy that I ordained two great servants in the Diocese as priests this past Saturday at Trinity, Rock Island. The church was full and the Holy Spirit was very present.

Fr. Jason Bowden has served as a Deacon at Trinity for many years, and especially over the last few months, as the church is searching for a new rector. He has provided guidance, continuity, and love to the people of Trinity Church. It is my hope that he will continue to serve there for many years to come, maturing as a priest and serving the people of God.

Deacon Tom Swegle has been working diligently in Chatham, outside of Springfield. He is building ministries in two nursing homes and is out in the community, at the local college, working with students as well. He will now be able to serve sacramentally, as well as pastorally, and I am so happy that he is working to build the kingdom.

Please keep both Fr. Jason and Fr. Tom in your prayers, along with their wives Jennifer and Sylvia, as they serve.

Bp. J. A. Morales, OSB, DD
Quincy IX
