A Life Changing Pilgrimage – Canon Jim Fosdick

What would it be like to wake up and see the sun rising over the Sea of Galilee as Jesus did? How would it feel to kneel down and pray at the site of Jesus’ manger in Bethlehem?

You can find out for yourself if you join us on a Pilgrimage to the Holy Land March 4-13, 2019. We will be staying in 4 and 5 star hotels like the Leonardo Hotel in Tiberius (pictured below). You will enjoy wonderful Middle Eastern cuisine (pictured). In our hotels, breakfast and dinner are elaborate buffets with many choices and extensive desserts.

Our guide will be Sam Makarios who was our guide on the pilgrimage I made in January 2018 led by Father David Roseberry. Sam is extremely knowledgeable and is like a seminary professor illuminating every site we visit. He also makes Biblical connections every step of the way.

Our first three days we will be in the Galilee region and will Visit Caesarea Maritima, the Mount of the Beatitudes, the Mount of the Transfiguration, Caesarea Philippi, and more. We will take a cruise on the Sea of Galilee and celebrate the Eucharist on board. We will visit the Golan Heights and then journey down the eastern side of the Sea of Galilee to the River Jordan where we will renew our baptismal vows.

Five days will be spent in Jerusalem from which we will make day trips to Bethlehem, Nazareth, Masada, the Dead Sea and the site where the Scrolls of Qumran were discovered. We will descend the Mount of Olives to the Garden of Gethsemane, visit the cell in Caiphas’ house where Jesus spent the night before his crucifixion, and walk where he walked as he was led to trial by Pilate. It is hard to describe how powerful it is to pray at the Western Wall and enter the church of the Holy Sepulchre and stand at Golgotha, then enter the site of the tomb and pray at the very spot where Jesus was resurrected from the dead.

Come with us. All the sites of the Bible that you have imagined in your mind’s eye will become real. After your pilgrimage when you read the Bible or hear it read you will return to the time you spent in the Holy Land. This is a spiritual pilgrimage not a tour. It doesn’t just touch your mind it goes deep into your heart. If you would like to join Susan and me next March please email me at erfather@gmail.com or call me at (715) 891-6279.
