On November 3rd, St. Andrews Parish joined with its support Church, Concordia Lutheran Church, and celebrated their Annual Bratfest dinner.
While Germany always celebrates Bratfest during September and the first week of October, traditionally St. Andrews and Concordia have celebrated it during October.
Over a hundred brats were served along with homemade sauerkraut and German Potato Salad and, of course, German beers!!
“Traditionally, brats are first marinated in a mix of German dark lager and beef broth and then grilled, I’ve found this produces a pretty “dry” sausage” said Bratmeister, Dave Backs, “so I’ve reversed the process, and grill them first and then marinate to keep them plump and juicy.”
A wonderful time was had by all with both our Priests presiding and giving Grace and thanks for God’s many blessings. (Submitted by Dave Backs, St. Andrews Parish)
