 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.” — Psalm 46:1-2

Our hearts are heavy as we face the devastating aftermath of the powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck Colombia. It has left homes in ruins, claimed precious lives, and upended whole communities. As a global family rooted in one faith, we are called to stand in the gap for our extended church family. Our brothers and sisters within the Diocese of Quincy in Colombia—including families across local missions and ministries—are now navigating immense loss and uncertainty.

Scripture reminds us in Galatians 6:2 to “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Right now, our family in Colombia is carrying a burden too heavy to bear alone. They urgently need temporary shelter, clean water, medical aid, and basic food items to survive. Through our collective generosity, we can become the hands and feet of Jesus, providing tangible relief and a beacon of hope amid the rubble.

“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”— Hebrews 13:16

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ:

We are experiencing a very difficult time in Colombia as a result of the terrible earthquake that has affected our community.

Our Diocese has a social ministry that, at this time, especially needs the generousity, support, and prayers of all of you.

At Fundación Manos Unidas de Dios (God’s United Hands Foundation), we care for and support 50 elderly adults and provide education, housing, and comprehensive support to 30 young people from rural communities and vulnerable populations.

The earthquake has caused significant material damage to our facilities, putting our ability to continue this mission to the test. Nevertheless, we place our trust in God and know that, united as brothers and sisters, we will be able to move forward.

Today, we need you more than ever. We ask you to support us with your prayers, your solidarity, and, according to your means, with any donations that will allow us to repair the damage and continue caring for our elderly adults and young people.

May God abundantly bless every act of unity and allow us to continue being instruments of His love and service.
